Field Intelligence—Six week inspection package
Our base service level focuses on various threat targets including soybean rust, corn rootworm, and other insects with the potential to impact your crop. Field scouting focuses on both corn and soybean crops to manage the pest in-season and for the next season’s input decisions.
- In Corn: Scouting determined on need for pest management, totaling six weeks worth of field visits (six whole-field inspections).
- CRW larval floats are made to determine developing root system pressure. If needed, rescue recommendations are made.
- CRW beetle counts are made, as well as recommendations for pollination protection or population management as needed; this includes evaluation of all other insects such as Japanese beetle or corn borer within field at time of scouting.
- CRW input recommendations for the 2009 season are made based on the scouting performed and information collected.
- Fungicide treatment timing is made if disease factors require it or if the grower is performing trial evaluations.
- Soybeans: Soybeans are scouted six times starting prior to full bloom or on an agreed-upon schedule.
- Corn rootworm first year variant: The crop is thoroughly examined and reports are given on CRW adult infestations over the scouting period.
- Recommendations to manage the population of Japanese beetle, bean leaf beetle, stinkbugs, and/or other insects that may economically impact the field are made.
- Corn rootworm recommendations are made to you for next season’s corn crop.
- Fields are inspected for any soybean rust development. If needed, treatment is timed accordingly. The intent is to carry scouting through the R5 stage.
- Fields are monitored for soybean aphids and recommendations are made as needed.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)—Full Season
- Season-long insect, weed, and disease scouting: Beginning at crop emergence to R7 in soybeans or full dent in corn. Consultant will check fields as needed, depending on key pest issues and timing. Grower receives printed reports and is contacted concerning field observations or needs to be addressed on a timely basis. Treatment and timing recommendations are made.
- Season-end summary report and analysis: Report includes season activity of pests encountered, crop condition, and recommendations for next year’s inputs for insect, weed, and disease management.
Full Season IPM Plus ++
- Soil sampling, recommendations, and VRT mapping: In addition to the full season IPM package, you receive soil sampling on 2.5 acre grids on 25% of the acres you contract with us. We provide fertility recommendations according to desired cropping goals with the accompanying maps and a VRT prescription if needed.
The Full Service Acre
Our premium level, this package includes planning, field record keeping, field intelligence, analysis, and availability components.
- Planning: Includes pre-season planning of all crop inputs (fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide, hybrids, and traits) and agronomic strategies. Budgets are developed and recorded by field.
- Record keeping: Each field is digitized and farms are organized on the consultant’s computer. Field inputs, operations, and in-season activities are all recorded, then summarized at season end. Recommendations are made for the next crop production season.
- Field intelligence: We begin with pre-plant evaluation, then continue to monitor your crop for 12–14 weeks after emergence depending on the crop. Comprehensive weekly field reports are provided. These reports include early season and pre-harvest stand counts, as well as input evaluations during and after the season. We also provide ongoing insect, weed, and disease evaluations with timely recommendations as needed.
- Season end summary report and analysis: This includes final yields per field with an analysis of the primary factors affecting the outcome. Crop input recommendations for the following year are made in the fall.
- Grid sampling, fertility recommendations, and mapping: As part of this service the grower will receive 2.5 acre grid soil sampling, maps, accompanying soil tests, and recommendations on 25% of his contracted acreage.
- 24/7 access: Your Crop IMSSM consultant is always available to discuss or review your plans, crop conditions, and current developments.
